How Do I apply LUT to My Entire Timeline?
How Do I apply LUT to My Entire Timeline? As frustrating as it can be, the answer to this question is actually very simple! Once you created your timeline inside Davinci Resolve you have couple options.
Method 1
Adjustment Layer
Many people don’t know that Davinci Resolve has an adjustment layer you can use to apply the “global” effect to over the entire timeline. This method has its advantages as well as disadvantages! One of the main disadvantages of this method is that you apply a big chunk of material to the same settings and essentially don’t have control over it. This means quality control…
To get started go to EDIT tab in Davinci Resolve and navigate to effects. Under effects, the first effect is going to be an adjustment layer.Â
Drag and drop this adjustment layer effect into your timeline above all your clips. Stretch is as far as you need to cover everything below it.
Once you have done that, go back to the Color Page tab and locate Adjust Layer Clip as shown below.
Select your desired LUT and apply to the adjustment layer. Now, every clip under adjustment layer will be covered under the LUT!
Method 2
Timeline Node
This method is different than the previous one but technically has the same concept. This is my personal preferred way if I have to do something in a pinch!
Go to the Color Tab and locate two little dots above your node tree! See picture below!
The first dot represents shot by shot node base tree, the second dot represents the timeline node tree. This is the one we need so click on it!
You will see exactly the same node structure, but now, whatever adjustments you make will be applied to the entire timeline! In this case, I applied Origami LUT to all clips below.
And this is how easy it is two use two different methods of applying LUT to the entire timeline!
